Yggdrasil Applies for Gibraltar Gaming License
Casino software provider, Yggdrasil Gaming, has submitted a formal application for a B2B remote gambling from the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority. Yggdrasil was invited to apply for a license from the exclusive jurisdiction only a few weeks after it was awarded a gambling license from the UK Gambling Commission.
The UK license was awarded in December 2015, allowing it to offer its proprietary online and mobile casino games to customers in the UK. A Gibraltar gaming license will help it to extend its reach further and with its rapid expansion over the past twelve months, this additional expansion option will be significant.
“We were over the moon to be invited to apply for a Gibraltar license,” announced Fredrik Elmqvist, chief executive at Yggdrasil. “It’s an exclusive jurisdiction with a number of the major operators based there and we believe it will be a fantastic new hunting ground for us.”
“We’ve pretty much covered all the player liquidity available from the operators in Malta, so now is the time for us to be targeting Gibraltar, where we will be building up our presence. We’ll be putting some people on the ground in Gibraltar and are actively recruiting. We strongly believe we can hit the ground running as we have carved out a niche for ourselves that is different from other suppliers.”
In addition to the new operators it has signed on in the last twelve months, Yggdrasil has been expanding its game suite with the launch of many new game titles including Cyrus the Virus, Winterberries, Reef Run, Vikings Go Wild, Doubles and Nirvana and Joker Millions progressive jackpot. It was recognised at the 2015 EGR B2B Awards being named Software Rising Star and at the 2016 International Gaming Awards by winning the iGaming Software Supplier of the Year award.
