SkyBet Joins Senet Group Self-Regulatory Body
Sky Betting & Gaming has joined the Senet Group, becoming its first exclusively online gaming operator. Established in September 2014 to raise awareness of problem gambling, the Senet Group is the UK gambling industry’s fully independent self-regulatory body.
Members of the Senet Group include big names in the industry such as its founders William Hill, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and Coral, but SkyBet is the first online-only member. They have a three month grace period in order to ensure all their responsible gaming controls comply with the member requirements.
“We’re delighted to welcome such an important online and mobile operator as a member,” announced Wanda Goldwag, Senet Group chair. “It demonstrates that Sky Betting & Gaming is prepared to adhere to and promote high standards of social responsibility, which is good news for players and for the industry.”
“Remote gambling is the fastest growing sector of the industry with innovations being developed regularly. It’s therefore particularly important that we will have a leading operator in this space to inform the development of our codes of conduct.”
According to Sky Betting & Gaming chief executive Richard Flint, “The gambling industry has definitely upped its game on social responsibility issues over the last 12 months and the Senet Group has been a key part of these efforts.”
“There’s obviously still further room for improvement, but I’m really looking forward to helping shape the group’s work on online gambling issues.”
The Senet Group has announced that following the success of its “When the Fun Stops” tagline campaign that it ran for the past year, it will be launching a new, but related campaign in the upcoming months. The upcoming campaign is expected to make gamblers aware of the symptoms of problem gambling and to provide tips on how to control gambling habits.
