Playtech to Launch New Branded Games Through Warner Bros Licensing Deal
Isle of Man based casino software provider, Playtech, has signed a licensing contract with Warner Bros. Consumer Products that will allow them to develop casino games based on DC Comic characters from the comics, television series or films.
While Playtech already has license to develop games based on the Marvel characters, this new deal will significantly expand its opportunity for branded game development. Under the multi-year deal, Playtech will be able to develop omni-channel games based on the classic 1960s Batman television series and Warner Bros. Picture’s feature films of Superman I and Superman II from 1978 and 1980 starring Christopher Reeves, the 2011 film Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds and the 2013 Man of Steel film.
“Playtech’s best performing in-house and premium branded casino slot content will be further strengthened through our partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and the launch of the DC Comics branded games,” announced Mor Weizer, Playtech Chief Executive.
“Our licensees will benefit from the best omni-channel gaming content the market has to offer. We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and we are all very excited to see the outcome of the DC Comics-themed games when they are delivered later this year.”
The games will be launched on Playtech’s ONE platform, making them accessible via all devices from one account and one wallet. Players can enjoy the games from their desktop, as well as on the go via their smartphone or tablet mobile device. The games will be added to Playtech’s suite of more than 600 game titles. The deal allow Playtech to develop additional DC Comics games in the future and these could include titles such as Wonder Woman, Aquaman or The Flash.
