Playtech Launches Virtual Sports Game for the Retail Betting Market
Online and mobile casino software provider, Playtech, has begun a trial roll-out of its first virtual sports product for the retail betting market. Playtech has launched the product in conjunction with UK bookmaker, Coral.
The Virtual Sports Football Accumulator simulates live accumulator bets with players able to select from a choice of betting options. Four matches of ninety seconds will run simultaneously every five minutes. One game will become the featured match; however players will be able to view updates for all four matches at any one time. The games will be streamed by a Linux hardware box solution.
“We’ve been working around the clock on a retail solution and firmly believe we’ve launched the best product on the market,” announced Elliot Norris, Playtech Sports’ head of virtual. “Not only does it play extremely well, it looks great and is extremely simple and cost effective to set up, distribute and deploy.”
The product will be launched initially as a three month trial in 100 Coral betting shops across the UK. If successful, the product will be rolled out to the operator’s entire group of around 1,000 retail shops over the coming twelve months and will be broadcast on the Coral TV channel by means of satellite.
“The product was delivered swiftly and promptly and we’re delighted with the results,” commented Mark Kemp, gaming director at Coral. “Playtech’s new virtual sports retail product adds yet another dimension to the industry leading omni-channel customer experience we have across all channels.”
The launch comes soon after Playtech’s release of their Virtual Tennis product across all platforms and channels. Playtech also has virtual football, horse racing, greyhounds, speedway and velodrome products, with a virtual basketball game currently being produced for release later this year.
