Perth Man Wins $2.7 Million at Crown Casino
A lucky player at Crown Casino in Perth became an instant millionaire when he hit the Texas Hold’em poker progressive jackpot. The man won $2.7 million off a $10 bet while playing at the casino on Monday.
Nigel, the 45-year old Perth father of two, said he had been playing roulette when he decided he wanted a break and turned to the poker tables. With a choice between the $5, $10 or $15 jackpot bet, he decided to take the middle route of the $10 bet. On his sixth hand he got a royal flush on the flop which pays out the progressive jackpot and netted Nigel $2.7 million.
Nigel was the only player at the table at the time and he said the “dealer was stunned” when he got the royal flush.
Nigel, a self-proclaimed “immigrant battler” who immigrated with his family to Perth from Zimbabwe when he was 17 years old, works as the managing director for a golf course management company. He has said that he does not plan to quit his job.
“I’ve got the greatest job in Australia – so what I will do is semi-retire; I’ll work five days instead of seven and I’ll put the money in the bank,” he decided. “I’m not going to do anything until March.”
Only last week, another Perth player won the same jackpot taking home more than $1 million. Punters must place the progressive jackpot bet during the poker game in order to be eligible for a chance to win.
The progressive jackpot is available on a number of poker games at Crown Casino – Crown Hold’em and Crown Stud Poker, as well as the newly added options of Three Card Poker and Ultimate Texas Hold’em.
