Ladbrokes Australia Makes Two Appointments to Management Team
Ladbrokes Coral Plc has announced two new appointments to the management team of its Ladbrokes Australia division. Jason Scott has been promoted to interim chief executive and Greg Sedgwick will take on the position of non-executive director.
Scott, a veteran executive of Ladbrokes, has held key positions in the company since 2012, playing an integral role in establishing the Australian business as Bookmakers.com.au after it was acquired by Ladbrokes in 2013. He has extensive knowledge of the industry and since that time, he has been trading director. He has been promoted with immediate effect, ahead of the departure of Dean Shannon who will leave the business at the end of this month.
“The Australian business continues to go from strength to strength and has delivered impressive growth since we bought it in 2013,” stated Jim Mullen, chief executive of Ladbrokes. “We felt it was important that we preserved the entrepreneurial spirit within the team and in appointing Jason we have done just that. Jason has sports betting in his DNA and understands the market and more importantly, the Australian business better than anybody. His task is simple – keep the momentum in the business and keep the brand as fresh and as customer focused as it always has been.”
Complimenting Scott’s appointment, Greg Sedgwick, leisure market and private equity expert, will become a non-executive director, advising the management of Ladbrokes Australia.
“Greg is an established businessman and will be a great addition to the Australian team as a non-executive director and will give the local team support and guidance in maintaining its entrepreneurial spirit as well as introducing a level of necessary governance to the business as it grows in importance as part of the Ladbrokes Coral Group,” said Mullen.
