IGT and BCLC Launch First Omni-Channel Progressive in US
US poker machine and gaming technology supplier, International Game Technology (IGT), together with Canadian lottery operator, British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), have launched the first omni-channel progressive jackpot in North America.
Powerbucks will link the jackpot pool from the land-based Powerhits pokies game at BCLC’s 33 gaming venues with desktop and mobile versions of the game that can be played via PlayNow.com in British Columbia and Manitoba.
The game will feature a fixed jackpot of CA$1 million, as well as the progressive jackpot which will start from CA$1 million. To be eligible for the progressive jackpot, players will need to place bets of CA$3 or more, while bets of between CA$0.50 and CA$2.99 will give players a chance of winning the fixed jackpot.
“Powerbucks delivers a whole new jackpot experience to PlayNow.com players that is unique in North America,” said Monica Bohm, vice president of e-gaming at BCLC. “Players can play Powerbucks for a chance to win jackpots of CA$1 million or more any time from their mobile devices, home computers or local casinos.”
“The introduction of new, innovative products, such as Powerbucks, helps BCLC deliver the very best in gambling entertainment to British Columbians while benefiting communities across the province,” added Brad Desmarais, vice president of casino and community gaming for BCLC.
The partnership between IGT and BCLC started nineteen years ago and this launch marks a new milestone in that partnership, according to David Flinn, regional vice president for Canada of IGT. IGT has also been supplying interactive game content to PlayNow.com since 2010.
“Powerbucks extends IGT’s legacy in developing omni-channel products that push the envelope of innovation and transform the way players enjoy gaming entertainment,” Flinn stated.
