Grosvenor Casinos Move Over to Microgaming Poker Network
The UK-based Rank Group Plc’s Grosvenor Casinos business has moved their online poker operations over to the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN). This move will allow the company to offer their 110,000+ digital customers a wide range of downloadable, instant play and mobile poker products.
Established in 1970, Grosvenor has a growing online presence and an already-established land-based retail presence with more than 55 establishments across the UK.
“From our first meeting with Microgaming we were impressed with the company’s enthusiastic attitude towards poker and collaborative approach to managing the network,” commented Rory Cartwright, head of poker at Grosvenor. “We’re looking forward to marrying our strong retail poker presence with an online network which is growing month-on-month, year-on-year.”
MPN continues to show continued annual growth, even through 2015 when they were one of the few poker networks that did. The network underwent a number of changes that were focused on improving the player experience, including a revision of the network’s rake structure, new features such as the alias changes and exciting promotions including the Universal Championship of Poker.
Grosvenor operates the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) which is made up of nine festivals across the UK and is one of the most popular and well-attended poker tours worldwide. In 2015, the aptly named Goliath, one of its tournaments, became the biggest poker tournament ever held outside the US, with 4,210 contestants.
“I’m very happy that Grosvenor Casinos has selected us as its new poker vendor,” stated Alex Scott, head of poker at Microgaming. “They have been fantastic to work with since day one. The addition of the Grosvenor brand to the network will help to accelerate our growth in 2016 and the synergies between our MPN Poker Tour and Grosvenor’s retail presence are very exciting.”
