Gala Bingo Joins the Senet Group
The Senet Group was founded last year to raise awareness of the dangers of problem gambling and the risk of gambling addiction. A number of leading UK land-based and online operators such as William Hill, Paddy Power Betfair, Ladbrokes, Sky Betting and Gaming and Coral have become members of the watchdog group since it was established and the number of its members continues to grow with Gala Bingo becoming the latest addition.
“Today marks an important milestone as more sectors from across the gambling industry recognise the importance of promoting responsible gambling standards,” announced Wanda Goldwag, chair of the Senet Group.
“We are delighted to welcome the first bingo brand to the Senet Group and look forward to working with Gala Bingo as more businesses from across the industry make the commitment to submit to the independent oversight we provide.”
Chief executive of Gala Bingo’s parents company, Gala Leisure, Simon Wykes said that joining the Senet Group would help the company focus on their mission of responsible gambling by allowing them to work with other operators that prioritise this.
Wykes continued that because of the community nature of the game of bingo, the company places particular emphasis on responsible gambling.
The UK Gambling Commission’s chief executive Sarah Harrison, welcomed the move by Gala Bingo, saying: “We welcome the further broadening of the Senet Group’s base and look to the group, and all industry leaders and representative bodies to come together to meet the ambition of the new Responsible Gambling Strategy Board strategy and to build on the industry’s commitment to responsible gambling in Britain.”
