Blackjack is one of the most popular casino table games available. It can be traced back to the 17th century French game, Vingt-en-un. Players were awarded a special payout for a hand that consisted of an Ace and Jack of Spades and this is where the name, Black Jack, is thought to have come from. The game was taken to the US after the French Revolution and later spread around the world. It is now a favourite at online and mobile casinos as well.

How to Play Blackjack
Blackjack is a card game that is played against the dealer. While there are many different variations of the game, they mostly follow the same basic rules. You will first need to place a bet and will then be dealt two cards face up and the dealer is dealt one card face up and one card face down. Each card in the game has a value and the aim of the game is to achieve a hand total of closer to 21 than the dealer without going bust (going over). Once the cards have been dealt, you will play your hand by choosing from the following options:
-Insurance – If the dealer’s up-card is an Ace you will be given the option to take out insurance against the dealer having Blackjack. If the dealer has Blackjack, this will pay out.
-Surrender – This option is not always available, but when it is it most commonly available as a late surrender (after the dealer has checked for Blackjack) and not an early surrender (before the dealer has checked for Blackjack). It allows you to surrender your hand at the cost of half your bet.
-Double down – Available on the first two cards, it allows you to double your bet and receive one more card to end your turn.
-Split – Available when your first two cards are the same, it allows you to split your cards into two separate hands to be played with two separate bets.
-Hit – Receive another card.
-Stand – Receive no more cards and end your turn.
There are many different blackjack variations and some casinos offer a suite of tens of these games for players to choose from. Some of the more common variations of the game that you can find include:
-European Blackjack – The dealer is only dealt one card until the player has finished his turn.
-Blackjack Surrender – Players can surrender their hand.
-Blackjack Perfect Pairs – This is two games in one – classic blackjack and a side bet for pairs on your first two cards.
-Blackjack Switch – Players are dealt two hands at once and can switch the top card between the two hands.
-Lucky Blackjack – Players do not actually play the game, but rather bet on the final hand total of the dealer’s hand.
Must sure you understand the subtleties in the rules between the game before you begin play.
