Australian Player Wins 2016 Aussie Millions Australia Hall of Fame Classic
Australian poker player, Minh Nguyen, has won Event #14 at the 2016 Aussies Millions against 95 other contestants. He won the $1,150 Australian Poker Hall of Fame Classic, taking home the first prize of $24,950 and an Aussie Millions ring.
The one day event had 96 participants and a $92,400 prize pool with the top ten players receiving a prize. In tenth place came South African Robert Fenner who was awarded a $2,770 payout. At this point in the tournament, Nguyen was already the leader with 275,000 in chips.
English poker pro Jack Salter took ninth position for $3,695. Eighth place went to Gary Benson who was one of the first names in the Australian Poker Hall of Fame and he won $4,620. Antonina Anapolska from the Ukraine was out in seventh place and took home $5,545, followed by Australian Michael Accardo who was eliminated in 6th place and won $6,470. Fifth place and $7,390 went to Roy Vandersluis while fourth place went to another Australian, Geoffrey Mooney who won $9,240. Tatjana Zizic from Serbia was the last player to be eliminated before the final head to head and she won third place with a payout of $11,090.
The final head to head was played between Nguyen and Lihn Tran from Vietnam. The final play was over in under two dozen hands with Nguyen coming out the winner. Tran was awarded $16,630 as the runner up in the tournament.
