7th Annual Gaming, Racing and Wagering Conference Held in Sydney
Sydney hosted the 7th Annual Gaming, Racing and Wagering Australia (GRWA) Conference which took place from August 8 to 10 at the Novotel Darling Harbour. More than 150 leaders within the industry attended.
Business owners, executives and managers from the Australian gambling industry were present, listened to keynote speakers and took part in workshops. The primary agenda of this year’s conference was how to take advantage of Australia’s tourism and discretionary income.
The aim of the conference, according to its website was to ‘provide attendees with competitive advantage in the Australian market through offering insights and innovation from over 15 industry leaders specialising in activities down under.’
Keynote speakers included Michael Toohey, director of land-based equipment company, Australasian Gaming Specialists and Oonahgh Chan, head of broadcasting services at the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
This year, the conference was held alongside the Australasia Gaming Expo (AGE) which ran from August 9 to 11. More than 280 exhibitors took part displaying casino games and equipment, new products and startup ventures. This was the 27th AGE and a record number of 6,813 visitors attended at the Sydney Exhibition Centre.
“We leave with fond memories of the event continuing to grow and appreciate the support of the venue team working as one with our teams,” read a press release by AGE organisers. “We thank venue management and staff and we will remember the venue fondly.”
“We also applaud the courage and commitment of the NSW State Government for its investment in the temporary venue, which certainly contributed in a major way to the sustainability of the Australasian Gaming Expo, and no doubt, the exhibition industry generally, during what could have been an extremely difficult three years.”
